Essential Functions: The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Wayne State University (WSU) invites applications for a post-doctoral scholar in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The main focus of the multi-disciplinary research project is to develop and characterize implant surface coating and ceramic bone graft substitutes directed by Dr. Weiping Ren. Our Laboratory is located in the new integrative Bioscience Center (iBio) in midtown Detroit which is dedicated to research, discovery and knowledge application across a range of biomedical sub disciplines.Perform research related to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Assist with preparation of grant proposals, presentations, and publications.Actively seek new collaborative projects within the department and externallySupervise undergraduate and graduate students.Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Ph.D.s in Material Science, Bioceramics, Tissue Engineering, or related disciples. The prospective candidate should be highly motivated to perform research and publish in the tissue engineering field with a focus on bone and soft tissue repairs. The candidate should have good interpersonal communication and presentational skills.
