Coordinates and conducts the calibration, first article inspection, PPAP package completion and submission for component, assembly and inspection fixtures as well as pre-production parts. Detects and reports deviation in the specifications of raw materials, in the process/product and submits recommendations to solve quality problems assist to maintain quality management system, process control, and continuous improvement with supplier, internal production, and external customer quality performance.
Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks
Work with Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented
Conduct, Maintain and update supplier assessment system and schedule
Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste
Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non?conformances
Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply
Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base.
Incoming inspections of raw material
Coordinates MRB activities, provides technical and process as quality representative
Provides experienced guidance to Quality manager and maintains positive and professional communication/relationships with suppliers .
Supplier PPAP package verification (FAIR, Control Plan, FMEA and ect.) and completion
Makes set-ups utilizing standard inspection equipment (i.e surface plates, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments) to check angles, contours and dimensions, surface finish.
Maintains tool calibration and participates in the calibration of the assembly jigs/ fixtures
Interprets engineering drawings, specifications, quality assurance standards, and written and verbal instructions while checking for proper documentation/certifications for inspection
Exercises considerable judgments in approving or rejecting units when only general inspection procedures have been established or limited data is available
Generates non-conformance reports as required and performs transactions for records
Other tasks maybe required and directed by Quality Assurance Manager
Minimum 3-year experience as a Quality Assurance Technician in manufacturing/assembly.
Must have the necessary computer skills to support all tasks and responsibilities.
Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities to achieve desired quality and customer service goals.
Must have work experience in supplier management activities.
Must be well organized and able to work as part of a team.
Practical experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM-articulating arm) is a plus, Optical Comparator, Height Gauge Measuring System and other conventional measurement tools and techniques
Knowledge of shop mathematics and the ability to interpret complex blueprints utilizing industry standards drawing callouts. GD&T knowledge is a plus
Knowledge of machining processes, surface finish, and coating techniques
Understand the MRB Process and First Article Inspection
Good communication skills to interface with Engineers and Suppliers to support solving quality issues
Basic understanding exposure to the ISO9001:2008 environment, 2015 is a plus
Understanding of PPAP Process
Strong knowledge in calibrating inspection tools and fixtures required.
Ability to work with a minimum level of Supervision.
Ability to perform basic mathematical equations
Ability to create and maintain collaborative relationships with Suppliers and coworkers
Ability to create and maintain record retention and retrieval systems appropriate for position
