Job Summary: Optical thin-film interference coating and filter design for UV through NIR spectral bands. Provide technical assistance to internal departments and directly to customers.
Responsibilities: * Design optical thin-film filters and coatings for UV through NIR spectral bands. Balance a) cost against b) performance against c) ability to manufacture to create the most efficient designs. * Develop construction instructions for custom products * Assist in the development of quality control standards and procedures for all phases of production * Assist in troubleshooting filter performance problems, and provide technical assistance to customers in the design and layout of new instruments * Assist Production departments in troubleshooting problems with execution of filter and coating designs * Assist Application Scientists in choosing optimum filters and coatings for instruments of current and potential customers * Assist in the development of improved methodologies for filter and coating design.

Qualifications: * Undergraduate degree in optics, applied physics, materials science or similar technical discipline * 3+ years of experience with UV to NIR coating design or manufacture preferred * Experience in product development and general optical design preferred * Technical aptitude with mathematical inclination * Good problem visualization skills * Self directed and detail oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple priorities * Ability to work effectively with all individuals/groups within the organization * Technical writing skills a plus * Customer service experience a plus
