Production Engineer – CCE Huntsville (1803016) – Huntsville, AL
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are looking for an engineer like you to lead a team of Coating Shift Engineers at the Huntsville site. As the Lead Coating Engineer, you oversee a team that provides 24/7 technical support to the Coating Production lines. You will drive process and occupational safety by adhering to all BASF safety rules and policies. You will lead the optimization of the production lines by working with your team of engineers, Coating Shift Supervisors, Operators and other departments. You will have responsibility over the performance of the Coating lines, including scrap rate, customer ppm, cycle time and downtime. You will have four direct reports, but will have a very large responsibility over the technical aspects of the Coating operation. The role will be highly visible and must be seen as a leader and role model in Light Duty; as such, you will spend more than 50% of your time on the manufacturing floor, working with the team of engineers, operators, technicians and other departments. This role will typically work Mon-Fri but may also require some nights or weekends and will serve as the primary back-up for the Coatings Area Manager.

Formula for Success
Leveraging your education in an Engineering discipline and professional experience in a broad chemical or automotive plant environment, you will provide technical support and leadership to the Coating lines as a part of a 24/7 operation.
Utilizing your previous leadership experience, you will develop the shift engineers to a high level in order for them to provide all of the technical support needed on a 24/7 basis. Communication will also be key to get difficult or recurring problems from the shifts to the corresponding support departments for resolution. You will be the single point of contact for these other departments when something is needed on all shifts.
Your pledge to process safety will be a valued asset as you will support EHS activities and processes, and lead or participate in investigations and corrective actions.
Your proven organizational skills will be useful as you efficiently review production data to understand performance and make improvements.
Displaying your commitment to LEAN methodologies, you will lead continuous improvement activities by fostering innovation and facilitating change that drives improvement.
Your respect for the contributions of others will be relied upon to train technical team members and support training processes with required technical subject matter as needed.
Your valuable hands-on engineering experience combined with your ambition to lead teams and encourage their self-develop will allow the individuals to grow and transition into greater roles such as Area or Operations Manager or technically specialized engineer.
