This position is located in the Campus Maintenance-Exteriors Shop. The position will be responsible for making roofing and carpentry repairs and installations as well as performing preventive maintenance to all campus buildings. The position is responsible for with general tasks and duties associated with roofing, waterproofing, and restoration; paint/sheetrock repair; and mold abatement.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge of all types of roofing; carpentry experience required for repairs on windows, boxing and exterior trim. Ability to serve as a mandatory employee and report to work in support of mandatory University operations, even when adverse weather or other emergency conditions, including but not limited to a public health emergency, require the University to close. Valid North Carolina Driver's License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
The preferred candidate will have at least five years of roofing, carpentry experience and a good knowledge of carpentry repair. Experience with metal fabrication for downspouts and gutters, waterproofing and drains, and operation of boom and lifts is preferred.
