The Battery Coating Formulation chemist plays a key role in the development and commercialization of PPG battery coating products. PPG has developed differentiated coating technologies to enable significant improvements in battery cell performance and manufacturing process. This position will play a key role on the coating development and commercialization, and make significant contribution to the long term success of the mobility segment.
This role will focus on the formulation development of battery coatings to demonstrate the process and performance advantage of PPG products and meet customer needs. This involves developing and optimizing coating formulations, characterizing coating performance, interacting with customers on a regular basis, visiting customer site to support trials. This role will also work closely with commercial team to ensure effective customer communication and successful customer line trials.
A successful candidate will quickly come up to speed with PPG battery coating technologies, take a proactive approach as it relates to coating development, performance testing, customer engagement and solve technical challenges related to new product introduction.
Performance Objectives: A successful candidate will:
Comply with all of PPG EHS guidelines and initiatives.
Collaborate with technical teams to demonstrate process and performance advantage of PPG products
Coordinate with other chemists in setting priorities and accomplishing objectives as a team
Develop new coating formulations for battery coating customers
Optimize existing formulas for process/performance improvement
Drive formulation development, performance testing, and coating application process optimization to meet customer expectations
Interact with customers regularly and support customer trials
Solve technical problems related to new product introduction and process optimization
Some travel is required
